There is plenty of room to build a snowperson, fort or play fox-and-goose in the snow. Justin Trails Resort LLC is one-stop shopping for winter fun.  We have ski and snowshoe rental in the Lodge.   It’s easy to bundle up, head right out the back door of your cabin or suite to play in the snow. The Lodge allows you to experience the warm comforts of indoor bathrooms, a snack shop with a Jotul Franklin style gas fireplace, booths and a couch with plenty of room to watch the tubers on the tubing hill.  There are also outdoor picnic tables.

Nordic Skiing

Don Justin grooms 15 km (10 mi.) of 10 to 15 feet wide trails that were created with a bulldozer in 1985. He grooms with a Ski-doo Skandic snowmobile and a Tidd Tech snow tenderizer and track setter for classic and freestyle Nordic skiing. The trails vary in difficulty, length and loop around to bring you back to the Lodge. Some provide great vistas of the surrounding valleys and hills of southwest Wisconsin also known as the Driftless region.

Snowshoe
Snowshoeing
trails are footpaths through the woods that have been cleared of blackberries and bramble. They are marked with engineers tape. We have forty pairs of snowshoes for adults and children. Brands you may try before purchasing include Red Feather, MSR (Mountain Safety Research) high tech shoes, Little Bear are light weight plastic and traditional wood Wilcox and Williams.   Take a night snowshoe hike with the white snow making lights unnecessary.

Snow tube

Snow tubing (carry a tube up the hill and slide down) is a thrill for folks of every age. Snowtubes have a hard plastic bottom.  Snowtubing is available on two groomed hills, one 600 feet long and one 1200 feet. We provide a variety of tubes and sleds for your use. Delight yourself flying down the hill during the day or in the evening. The white snow makes lights unnecessary.

Skijor

Skijoring
involves a person wearing a harness hitched to a harnessed dog and being pulled across the snow.   Bring your own dog or coax George, our Siberian husky.  Use the 2 k dog trail that is groomed for either skijoriing or skiing with your dog off leash.  Dogs are not permitted on the other trails.  Trails are signed.

Dog sledding

Heidi and George pull a kick sled to allow youngsters the opportunity to safely experience dog sledding. We keep our dogs on a leash and use a bungee cord to strap little ones onto the seat. Teenagers and adults need to help the dogs get started by pushing like riding a scooter.

The following is excerpted from Jonathan Wiesel’s
Cross Country Ski Vacations (1997):

"Like the Springs, Justin Trails lies in Wisconsin’s ’driftless region,’ among hills that weren’t ground down or rounded by the last glacial epoch. Founded in 1985, owned and operated by Don and Donna Justin, both from local families, it’s one of the smallest XC areas around-actually something of a farm-resort. Meter for meter, it has one of the most challenging trail networks in the Midwest. More important, it’s also among the most entertaining, attractive as much as a ’winter getaway’ as for skiing."

Guided Llama trekking

No snow?  The llamas, Dusty and Rusty will provide a fun walk to  The Pond.  We halter and attach a lead rope for you to walk the llamas.  One of us will walk with you.

From a Room Journal:
Donna & Don, Dusty & Rusty, Heidi & George,

Words can’t explain our wonderful Christmas of 2006!  We’ve never taken the time to spend Christmas alone, together, without the hustle and bustle of the season.  We "invented" a holiday this year with our grown children and their spouses, calling it "Mappy Thanksmas" and we all got together in early November so we could relax over Christmas.  That was a great tradition that will continue for us!

Lyle and I visited the website for your B & B months ago, and knew this would be perfect place to relax and "live in the moment."  The setting is incredible with the gorgeous acreage and the well-kept quaint buildings.

We loved the "Little House on the Prairie," it was so cozy and comfortable.  The hot tub is relaxing and we enjoyed the loft atmosphere.

Thanks for sharing your animals with us as well.  Our lives have always been full of animals and children!  We especially enjoyed the trek with Dusty & Rusty and look forward to another one in 2007!  You are incredible people with true heart & soul!  We really enjoyed seeing Ashlyn and watching her enjoy nature.  We will be back!  God Bless, Karen & Lyle.
