Naturally we create joy with quality lodging and recreation in a secluded coulee.

The sunrise washing plum to peach across the walls of your suite slowly brings you from a dream to consciousness. You decide to begin your day slowly by lolling around in your Ultra Bath™ air jetted tub with Avonite surround and vanity. You lie back and contemplate the day. Justin Trails Resort knows what you really want: you can choose from a variety of things to do, but you’re pleased to note that you’ll have plenty of time to do nothing at all. Hand in hand you make your way to the Lodge for breakfast. A former machine shed, the Lodge is decorated in antiques, and the aroma of fresh-baked muffins infuses the air.

The mostly vegetarian menu is designed for modern tastes. Innkeepers Don and Donna Justin would describe the cuisine as "rugged yet refined." You’re hooked from the moment you sample the homemade-from-scratch muffins. Afterward, you take Siberian Huskies George and Heidi for a walk. You follow Meadow Loop, a scenic two-kilometer groomed trail which takes you past the resort’s two ponds.

After your walk, you’re ready to explore 120 miles of bicycle trails. You have an appointment with Out Spokin’ Adventures for bicycle rentals and shuttle service to the nearby Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail. You meet them at the Sparta depot, the west end of the 32 mile trail that stretches east to Elroy, Wisconsin. After riding awhile, you realize you’re hungry for lunch. The next town is Wilton. Known as the "Heart of the Trail," Wilton is just 17 miles from Sparta and home of Gina’s Pies R Square, which serves the best food on the trail. Fortified by the great-tasting meal you enjoy the last leg of your journey.

Returning to the resort, you’re just in time for your massage. Your back and legs are kneaded, and you give yourself over to the sensation of touch. Cheryl Keeffe, a Wisconsin state-licensed and nationally certified therapist moves to your scalp and neck, and you feel the tension leaving your body, and you experience total serenity. A visit to Lona’s Suite at Justin Trails Bed & Breakfast Resort is just what your body and mind ordered!

Birds-eye maple furniture creates a cozy bedroom. Beyond find your two person Ultra Bath jetted whirlpool bathtub for two. A sage green Victorian loveseat beckons you. Daydream in front of the electric fireplace which you can set to look like a campfire or a daylight fire with fast or slow flames. Toggle the heat if there is a chill in the air.

The views out the windows to the east and north are of shade gardens under the huge silver maple trees. A clump of birch brought from the woods by Don & Donna provide shade for bleeding hearts, coral bells and wild strawberries. Springtime brings out the anemone, Jack-in -the pulpits, and Canadian ginger. Golden and Sherwood Frost Arborvitae give structure to the garden interspersed with a collection of ferns, Jacob’s ladder, Solomon seal and Astilbe.

Dreams really do come true

Though your postcards have fabulous scenes, they don’t do justice to the beauty that surrounds your B & B. I was simply in awe of everything from the re-done machine shed to your breath-taking gardens. Thanks for allowing me to assist in a walk with George and Heidi…it was very refreshing. I also enjoyed our evening visit and your enthusiasm for my “dream” of an agricultural tourism business in Baraboo. Throughout my year, I have been very fortunate to meet many wonderful people…you two are no exception. In Wisconsin, you truly are among friends.

Snowshoeing was awesome, so many animal tracks and such a great view at the top. Skiing and sledding were great fun too.

Historically speaking:
Extensive remodeling in 2001 joined two bedrooms to form Lona’s Suite. Highlights of the remodeling were the installation of the Ultra Bath™ air jetted tub with Avonite surround and vanity, and a Heat! N Glo electric fireplace. Installation also included new hickory hardwood flooring.

This suite is named in honor of Don’s paternal grandmother Appolonia Justin, affectionately called Lona, pronounced with a long o.
