Inspired by the hopes and dreams of settlers who came before us we introduce to you…

Little House On The Prairie" our hand-built log cabin

You settle into a pair of comfy patio chairs to watch a landscape painting come alive.  The morning mist slowly rolls back from the valley, its blue-gray gauze hanging reluctantly over the massive maples.  You can't remember when you last had an hour or two of unscheduled, uninterrupted time.

Today you are content just to let the surroundings enchant you.  The music of birds calling, the aroma of fresh coffee wafting through the air, the breeze gently caressing your cheeks, the sumptuous breakfast over which you lingered on your private veranda-it was all so pleasant and relaxing.  Nearby in their pasture the llama dudes, Dusty and Rusty entertain you with their play.

Impulsively, you decide to take advantage of the cool morning air and rent two bikes to explore the Elroy-Sparta State Trail.  You pedal slowly, and the bike ride seems like a lazy swim through waves of earthy perfume.  You breathe more deeply to capture all the aromas.  Returning to your cabin, you venture up to your loft and relax in a jetted tub massaged by jets of water.  Afterward, you're almost too mellow to move.

The glow from your gas fireplace provides a mesmerizing backdrop.  Book in hand, you snuggle together in your log hand-crafted queen bed and read aloud to one another, a pleasure you rarely have time for these days.  You surrender, and in seconds, the sandman greets you.

Now is the time to book your stay in the Little House at Justin Trails Resort.

Many times requested by guests because of its historic look, we purposefully mixed early American cabin architecture with cozy and charming!  A stay in our unique “Little House” cabin will stir up long-lost tales of  American character  and spirit.

Historically speaking:

Little House has its own special story                                    Sturdily built in 1988 from Wisconsin-grown Jack Pine logs, our cabin was amazingly first constructed off-site about 10 miles from Justin Trails.  The  tough, calloused hands of a local log builder heartily scribed and cut each log that was needed.   With the logs ready, our cabin was then fully assembled with one very unique detail…each log was carefully marked with an identifying tag. This tag is still securely attached to this day.  As planned, our Little House cabin was then disassembled and slowly transported to Justin Trails on hay racks!

It was put together just like a Lincoln Log activity.

Unloading each log was done with great care.  After the tagged logs were placed in numerical order, it looked more like Paul Bunyan playing Lincoln Logs! Slowly, the 12x16 foot cabin began to take an identifiable shape.  Windows were hung into open side slots.

One day the warm afternoon sun radiated through the open rooftop.  It was one of those moments when a sense of great satisfaction was felt by Don and those who were working with him.

Whimsical to some, but enjoyed by all…the loft is home to the whirlpool bathtub.

Remember when you were little and climbing into nooks and crannies created memories you keep today?  The Little House loft is a demonstration of creative vision and design wizardry!   Yes it’s true, one of the amazing surprises to our Little House cabin is the location of the whirlpool bathtub in the loft.  Twinkle lights and windows turn this moment into an adventure.  Many of our guests confess a stay in the Little House is hopelessly romantic and gloriously fun.

It was everything Getaways magazine described: cozy cabin, good food, fun snow activities, and relaxation galore! Perfect getaway. Donna, you really feed everyone well around here—even the cardinal and blue jay outside our window are as fat and happy as the rest of us! At least we burned some extra calories off skiing, snowshoeing and sledding!

This was a great way to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. The whirlpool was really enjoyed after biking the Elroy-Sparta trail. Slice of Chicago was a good place to eat and was nice to be able to clearly see the constellations in the night sky.
