Lona’s Suite

The Presidential Suite

Stroll through the beautiful handcrafted cherry door to the living and dining room, a common area for guests. A large armoire created by Gus Justin, Don’s grandfather, a green leather couch and ottoman invite guests to sit a spell. Meander up the stairs to the Presidential Suite or Lona’s Suite.  The Garden Suite is on the first floor with its own private entrance and three season porch.

The foursquare house was constructed by local craftsmen in 1920 in the unglaciated valley of western Wisconsin for Gustave and Lona Justin, Don’s grandparents.  The yellow 1920’s foursquare house has a city street brick path to the entrances.  The upstairs suites have individual heat controls, central air conditioning, and private baths with a tub/shower and an Ultra Bath 72 jet whirlpool tub and fireplace.

Outdoor log furniture under the huge silver maple tree begs guests to sit a spell.

The foursquare, sometimes referred to as the farmhouse, has a hipped roof, a large principal mass with a small mass for a porch or two. This is an indigenous American style developed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan and others. The style spread throughout the Midwestern states by pattern books published in the Midwest. It is among the more short-lived styles beginning in 1900 and ending in 1920. It is similar to a plan that was sold by Sears Roebuck.

Book a stay in the Garden Suite, Lona’s Suite or the Presidential Suite. These rooms are offered in the Foursquare House at Justin Trails Resort, the premiere B & B in the upper Midwest.  Sparta, Wisconsin is home of the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail and an 18 basket disc golf course.

Naturally we create joy with qualtiy lodging and recreation in a secluded coulee.
