Down a Country Road Tours takes you back in time to a quieter, simpler way of life where a buggy and colorful quilts airing on the clothes line are not uncommon sights. This is one of the largest Amish settlements in Wisconsin. The Amish began to settle in this area in 1966, and have rapidly grown in population in the midst of modern life. Beyond the images of the horse and buggy and plain clothing lies a rich and complex way of life. Kathy Kuderer, owner and guide will share the traditions and customs she has experienced interacting with the Amish people. One room schools, barn raisings, quilting bees, and Sunday services in the home are just a few of the ways the Amish keep the family unit strong. It is this intriguing way of life that has led many tourists Down a Country Road. Chuck and Kathy Kuderer, along with their children Jenny, Jason, Jeremy and Janessa—a non-Amish family—live on a small farm near Cashton, Wisconsin, in the heart of Amish Country USA that is the site of the Gift Shop and Tour Service. One gift shop was itself built by the Amish and is filled with hand-crafted Amish treasures. Another shop, the "Little Red Shed" will warm your heart with its unique country charm. Built in the early 1900’s and used as a garage for early model cars, it has been remodeled into a country gift shop. The gazebo gift shop offers garden theme gifts.
